Top Atlantic City Casinos are Harrah’s
Harrah’s Entertainment, technically Caesar’s Entertainment since April 2008, is the world’s largest private gaming corporation and owns and operates a variety of casinos, hotels, and golf courses under a myriad of popular name brands. The company utterly dominates the industry in the United States and is also the largest single casino operator in Atlantic City. In fact, Harrah’s owns and operates four of Atlantic City’s eleven casinos and has interests in a few others. Using their corporate expertise and wealth of resources, Harrah’s tends to provide all of their properties with a Las Vegas feel and world class entertainment and luxury options that are more difficult for smaller operators to provide. The following describes the four Atlantic City casino resorts owned by Harrah’s.
Bally’s Atlantic City
Originally opened in 1979, Bally’s Atlantic City was acquired by Harrah’s in 2005 and has remained in their hands ever since. Bally’s offers several different and distinct casinos, with a combined floor area of 220,000 square feet and more than 5,000 slot machines. Spread through a massive complex including three hotel towers, the hotel has more 1,700 rooms. It also hosts twenty-one different restaurants and all the other amenities one expects to find in an Atlantic City casino resort.
Caesars Atlantic City
Like Bally’s, Caesars also opened in 1979 and was acquired by Harrah’s in 2005. Divided into two separate casinos, Caesars has 145,000 square feet of gaming space including 3,000 slot machines and 129 table games. Palace East, the smaller, but more recent second casino has an Asian theme, unlike the rest of Caesars, which has an ancient Roman theme. There are four different hotel towers and more then ten restaurants contained within the casino resort.
Harrah’s Atlantic City
Harrah’s Atlantic City has undergone constant upgrades and renovation since it was first opened and its newest hotel tower, just opened in 2008, is now the second tallest building in the city. Featuring more than 160,000 square feet of gaming space, Harrah’s has also secured an exemption from the statewide smoking ban and will offer smoker-friendly gaming areas soon. You will find virtually every game allowed by New Jersey law in Harrah’s casino resort.
Showboat Atlantic City
Having a New Orleans Mardi Gras theme, Showboat Atlantic City was acquired by Harrah’s in 1998 and has been constantly improved upon and expanded since then. With more that 3,400 slot machines and eighty table games, Showboat offers a full, world class casino including an Asian themed area with Pai Gow and other related options. The casino resort underwent several massive renovation projects in the 2000s, making most of their rooms virtually brand new.
Since all the Harrah’s casino resorts are owned and operated by the same parent company, they are all carefully integrated, including a free shuttle service that can get guests around to each of the properties quickly and easily. Further, since Harrah’s has the means to do so, they frequently bring in leading national and international performance artists to keep their casino resorts on the cutting edge of Atlantic City entertainment. Buying a few nights at one of harrah’s properties largely opens all four casino resorts to you.
